I recently attended a talk on the abuses of solitary confinement at the Unitarian Church in Newburyport. Participants were invited to sign up for the pen pal program. While enjoying learning about each of my two pen pals reading their personal stories, I'm also disillusioned by the reality of the never ending stream of drugs on the inside, and then there's the violence.
